Masters Level Clinician, M.Ed.

As a non-binary and neurodivergent person I have had to be creative and find my own way of making sense of myself and my environment. Instead of traditional talk therapy, I enjoy processing with my people through creative arts, metaphor, or just silently feeling into a sensation. I am at my best as a therapist when breaking down how our environment—familial, social, cultural, historical, and ancestral—affects our present self through soft listening, parts work, and mindbody trauma-based approaches such as EMDR, hypnotherapy, and meditation. I find purpose in unhooking ourselves from Colonialism and White Supremacy Culture, including Perfectionism, Either/Or thinking, Fear of Conflict, Individualism, and Urgency, among others.

Here’s how this can look in session: I listen softly as you describe a topic of your choosing, we find the body feeling underneath the thoughts, characterize the feeling with creative metaphors (a color, texture, personality, sound, or gesture), then explore the context and story behind that feeling, noticing the role played by interpersonal, familial, and cultural messaging. I believe that we are less “individuals” as we are a spirit, placed in a body, using the logic of our people and place to make a story of this collage. Therapy with me is the act of peeling apart the collage, recoloring its pieces, and making something new, together. But this work requires a lot of psychic energy. Sometimes we’ll invoke our ancestors and heal generational wounds, and sometimes we’ll just chit-chat then quietly draw while we listen to music! To me, both are great, and you get to decide how our time is used.

In our space I value and seek to offer: Choice, Transparency, an even mix of Flexibility and Structure, Open Feedback and Collaboration, and Calm Attention. My formative media includes Avatar the Last Airbender, Audre Lorde, James Baldwin, Lord of the Rings, Dimension 20, Carl Sagan, and the Dark Souls games, among other things! I’m pumped to meet you and get started!
